The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2012 were announced this morning. Who will be inducted this time around? First time nominees include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Cure, Heart and Guns N’ Roses. Several groups return for another chance at induction, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys, Donovan and War. So many of these acts were such a part of my growing up, and a definite soft spot for Joan Jett. Her I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll album was one of the first records I purchased, and remember that day as if it were yesterday. It was played so much that it skipped during Crimson and Clover. Oh, the memories! Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, spoke of the elite group of candidates: “The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock and roll’ means.
